Are you sure that you're having a rubber O-ring sealing that connection?
If not, put a small, fitting, cheap O-ring inbetween and it's sealed. This O-ring is readily lost when unscrewing that cable (which has to be done each time you remove the tank and you all well know for how many occasions one has to do that...)!!!
